Introducing the Question of the Day Marathon!
By JLP | July 11, 2006
Those of you who read AllFinancialMatters know that I normally post a Question of the Day. During the month of August I want to take the Question of the Day to the next level by having my fellow personal finance and investing bloggers “host” a question. Here’s how it will work:
1. August has 23 days (31 days minus the 8 weekend days), I will need 22 volunteers to take one day to host a question.
2. Each blogger will be responsible for thinking up their question.
3. All other bloggers participating in the Question of the Day Marathon will agree to link to each day’s Question of the Day.
4. I will list each host along with their question in the table below.
5. To keep this as simple as possible, I will assign dates on a first-come-first-serve basis. I took out all weekend dates so that no one gets stuck with a “bad date.”
6. To be eligible for the marathon, you must have either a personal finance or investing blog. I reserve the right to decline any blog that I feel isn’t appropriate (I’m hoping this won’t be a problem).
7. Bloggers who are interested in being a part of the Question of the Day marathon need to send an email with “Question of the Day Marathon” in the subject line to:
I’ll add the host names to the list below as they come in. Now hop to it!

Hey, I can’t email right now but can I have August 8th?

BTW, fun idea!

Do we submit our questions now or wait until our assigned day?

hm… Sounds tempting, but I’d rather not commit to posting daily. Just in case.

In case anyone else would like to do the same, I’m planning on putting a box on my right sidebar on my homepage to link to each question of the day in August. Here’s the basic code I plan on using:
<div style="margin:0px auto;width:180px;text-align:center;padding:10px 10px 10px 10px;background-color:#ffffff; border:1px solid black;"><strong>Today's question from<br>
<a href="http://allthingsfinancialblog.com/2006/07/11/introducing-the-question-of-the-day-marathon/">JLP's August QotD Marathon:</a></strong>
<p>
<a href="URL GOES HERE">TODAY'S QUESTION</a>
<p>
Click on the link to submit your response!
</div>
Basic instructions:
1) You can change the background color by changing FFFFFF to something else to match your layout.
2) Enter the QoTD where it says “TODAY’S QUESTION” section and the URL to that day’s question in the “URL GOES HERE”.
3) Feel free to change/adapt any of the code as you see fit, and to correct poor coding standards I might have inadvertently used….

Great idea JLP. Are you planning on doing it again?
