More on Google Spreadsheets

By JLP | June 8, 2006

I received an invite tonight to Google Spreadsheets. I haven’t had a chance to do anything with it yet, but when I do I’ll see if I can either link to it or share it with people. This could be a personal finance blogger’s best friend. One drawback to them that I can see is that they don’t utilize the right-click feature. I LOVE the right click feature in Microsoft Excel and use it frequently. So, that will take some getting used to.

UPDATE: Okay, I just uploaded my first simple spreadsheet and played around with it a bit. I can invite people to check it out but it is an awkward process using email. So, if you would like to check it out, send me an email using the email address located in the upper left hand corner of this blog. I get a lot of email so PLEASE put the words “Spreadsheet Invite” in the subject line.

    Jesse,

I’m not sure. But, I can tell you that I would like to see their program perform pretty much the same way Microsoft Excel performs. I found their program to be a bit awkward to use. Of course, that’s probably because I’m used to Excel.

Yeah, those of us married to Excel will be hard-pressed to divorce it. It still has extremely limited uses (no conditional formatting, no database functions, etc.), and as you mentioned - no right click :)

[...] Goggle Spreadsheets: Very Close To Usable Much thanks to JLP from AllFinancialMatters, for sending me an invite to try out Google Spreadsheets. I looked around, tried a few features and even uploaded one of my own spreadsheets. After playing around for about 30 minutes, I decided to send Google a feedback. I thought I would share what I wrote: Hi there, [...]
