Welcome Money Magazine Readers

By JLP | March 22, 2006

Thanks for stopping by. First off, I want to say thanks to George Mannes at Money Magazine for his kind comments regarding this blog. It is always nice to get some recognition.

If you are new to this blog, here are some things I would like to point out:

1. My contact information is in the upper left-hand box. In that same box is the History of JLP for those of you who would like to know a little more about me. Also, I was recently interviewed by Scott at MoneyBloggerPodcast. I’m also a member of the MoneyBlogNetwork.

2. There’s a lot of information on this blog. My posts are arranged by category, which you can find by scrolling down the left side of the blog. There’s a lot of categories to choose from (I’m working on consolidating these categories). I do a lot of “hands on” posts where I show how do certain financial functions (like these).

3. The three posts mentioned in the Money article are:

Index Funds v. ETFs

Which is Better: a 15-Year or 30-Year Mortgage?

and the one where I “helped” (I hope I don’t have any angry teachers trying to track me down) the girl with her homework:

Meeting Future Goals

4. In the upper right-hand corner you’ll notice the Blog of the Week (BotW). Each week I try to highlight another blog. This has become a popular feature of AllThingsFinancial. Other bloggers send me wine and cheese baskets all the time just to get me to consider their blog for BotW (I’m just kidding).

5. One of the really cool things about personal finance blogging is the “community” that we have formed. I think I speak on behalf of the entire personal finance blogging community when I say that our goal is to educate and inform people so that they can make wise financial choices. It’s a tall order, but one we are pursuing nonetheless. To find other excellent blogs to help you get on the right path, feel free to check out my links sections:

Personal Finance Blogs
Debt Blogs
Economics Blogs
Financial Planners
Frugal Blogs
Investing Blogs
Miscellaneous Blogs
Organization Blogs
Real Estate Blogs

6. Another awesome thing about blogging is the ability for readers to leave comments after each post, which makes a blog highly interactive and fun. So, whenever you read a post, be sure and also read the comments and feel free to leave a comment (as long as it isn’t spam!).

7. Finally, remember to subscribe to AllThingsFinancial so that you can keep up with what’s going on. Simply click on the link, which will take you to my feedburner feed. Once there, you can choose which reader service you want to use. Or, you might want to set up a FREE Bloglines account and subscribe that way (nearly half of my readers subscribe that way).

Hopefully this is a good “welcome” post. If it’s not, please leave a comment and let me know what I can do better.

I saved all my life, and built up my nest egg using all the right strategies. What are the strategies for withdrawing money during retirement.
I understand your Roth fund is the last to be touched, but how do you withdraw. How frequently do you withdraw etc.

Whoo Hoo! Good to see the “legit” magazines taking notice of us hard working bloggers. Thanks for mentioning me too! Keep up the awesome work.

I produce a new program called MoneyTrack seen on PBS stations around the country. I will interview John Bogle next month and I am looking for two good, basic questions that someone will ask Mr. Bogle on camera.

We will come to you — I am looking for (ideally) two younger people, meaning 20’s.

All you need to do is submit your question, perhaps it is about mutual fund expenses, or index vs. ETF’s and send this to me through my website at http://www.moneytrack.org.

    Thank You!

    Pam
